  • Jul 23, 2025 Property and applications of VC-Copolymer MP 60 Resin
Property: MP-60 resin is made from vinyl chloride and vinyl isobutyl ether through copolymerization, the resin possesses good adhesive property because of the vinyl isobutyl eth-er component. It possesses acid resistance, alkali resistance, salt resistance and chemical corrosion resistance because there are no saponifiable ester bonds in the molecular structure. The flexibility of coating film and the solubility of resin are very good because of the isobutyl eth-er in the structure. Meanwhile, there are no reactive double bonds in the structure, so the resin isn’t easily oxidized or degraded. The film of coating added MP60 has atmospheric ageing resistance, good light fastness, and the film won’t easily occur yellowing and pulverization. Solubility: MP-60 resin is easily soluble in the following solvents, such as aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorohydrocarbons, esters, ketones, glycol eth-er acetates and some alcohol eth-ers etc. MP resin has specially excellent solubility in aromatic hydrocarbons, it can dissolve in 20% toluene (xylene) solvent at normal temperature. Compatibility & Miscibility: MP-60 resin is miscible or partly miscible with the following copolymers, such as vinyl chloride copolymers, polyacrylates, unsaturated polyester resins, aldehyde resins, petroleum resins, natural resins, alkyd resins modified through oil and aliphatic acid, dry oil, tar oil and asphalt etc. Applications: MP-60 can be applied in the base resin of coatings in the following fields: Steel structure, containers, marines and those equipment working in the water, machinery and automobile engineering, transportation facilities, construction protection etc.

  • Jul 14, 2025 What are the different types of Cellulose Acetate Butyrate CAB?
Cellulose acetate butyrate, abbreviated as CAB, is a synthetic resin with high transparency, heat resistance, chemical resistance and weather resistance, derived from cellulose esterification. It has good plasticity and processability, and can be used in the manufacture of coatings, printing inks, nail care and varnishes. As we all know, there are many types of CAB. Let us sort the differences between different popular models: CAB-551-0.01 CAB-551-0.01 has many unique properties that allow it to be used in many different coating applications. It has the lowest Tg (glass transition temperature) and M (n) of the CAB group, which makes it compatible with other coating components. It is compatible with many cross-linking resins and has a low solution viscosity. In coatings, CAB-551-0.01 provides clear films, reduces surface tack and spotting, minimizes cratering, improves flow and thermal reflow, and provides inter-coat adhesion and good UV stability. Its good compatibility with a variety of curing resin systems and its solubility in a variety of solvents and solvent combinations make it useful as an additive in digital coating compositions. It is often used in gravure printing, inkjet, printing inks, metal coatings, packaging and carton coatings, etc. CAB-551-0.2 CAB-551-0.2 is a cellulose ester with high butyryl content and low relative molecular weight. It is compatible with many cross-linked resins and can obtain lower viscosity. In coatings, cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB-551-0.2) has good transparency, reduces surface spots, reduces shrinkage, improves fluidity, provides interlayer adhesion and good UV resistance. This product can improve the durability of cross-linked systems. Due to its excellent compatibility and solubility, it can be used as a useful additive in a variety of coating systems. CAB-551-0.2 has little odor and excellent oil resistance. It can be used for printing inks, paper and fabric coating, and UV resistance. It is widely used in the coating industry and has its uniqueness, which is difficult to be replaced by other chemicals; in the automotive and furniture industries, it has excellent weather resistance and UV resistance. CAB-381-0.1 CAB-381-0.1 product features: low viscosity, faster drying, no yellowing, no cracking. Application: Adding it to metal coatings can accelerate the release of solvents from the paint film and shorten the touch-drying time; adding it to plastic coatings can enhance wear resistance, color stability, and increase toughness. CAB-381-0.5 CAB 381-0.5 is a cellulose ester with medium butyryl content and low viscosity. It was designed for use where low-application viscosities at relatively high solids levels is needed. It is soluble in a wide range of solvents and compatible with many other resins. It will also tolerate the use of solvent blends currently exempt from certain air pollution regulations. It is supplied as a dry, free-flowing powder. CAB-381-0.5 can improve the drying speed, polishing an...

  • Jul 01, 2025 What is the best method for applying reflective powders?
Reflective powder can be directly added into coatings or resins to achieve retroreflective effects. It can be applied on complex surfaces. It is a core raw material in production of new optical composite materials, such as reflective cloth, reflective films, reflective coatings, reflective signs, advertising materials, clothing materials, standard racetracks and so on. Hereby pls check some method for applying reflective powders as follows; Water-based silk screen printing Reflective powder can be directly added into reflective paste and transparent paste. It can be mixed for stamping and printing. Oil-based screen printing 1: Reflective powder can be directly added into varnishes. It can be mixed for stamping and printing. 2: It can be directly added into inks to produce reflective ink.It can be easily screen printed or brushed onto fabrics or other items. 3: First, apply one layer of stamping primer. Then, apply one layer of reflective paste, followed by drying and curing. Depending on the dosage, weigh reflective powder and add it into cyclohexanone to prepare the paste. Then, mix it with transparent stamping paste. In the printing process, the adhesive layer should be 30-50 microns in thickness, so that reflective powder is semi-exposed on the surface to produce a reflective effect.Or, the particle size may be selected based on applications to achieve various reflective effects.Unequal particle sizes will lead to better reflective effects. Spraying 1. First, spray the reflective primer. When the reflective primer is dry, spray the reflective topcoat. It is recommended to apply two layers of reflective primer on cement surfaces. 2. It is recommended to use a W-71 spray gun with a nozzle of C1.50mm.The spray gun pressure should be approximately 2.0kg/cm2 for primer and 3.0kg/cm2 for topcoat. 3. The spray gun should be kept at a distance of 18cm away from the surface and an angle of 45 degrees during construction. The paint film should be evenly thin to achieve good effects. 4. Stop construction in case of rain, fog, and snow.Otherwise, the fastness may be affected.
